We had the best offer financially, and offered a free rent-back, etc., but the offer below us waived the appraisal contingency. The agent said the seller was extremely paranoid that the home would appraise notably below our offer. So he took a little less for a sure thing.
It’s so amusing, I was just telling some friends tonight that the only way we wouldn’t be selected would have to be for someone else to have cash in hand. And I was sadly correct.
No shop for Zoidberg. Just a very sad wife.

Bastards. I’m really sorry. This one has to suck extra.

It’s by far the worst one yet. Apparently these people submitted their offer ONE HOUR before review. They swooped in and ripped it from my hands.

Yeah, see, this shit is one more reason why the housing crisis has gone absolutely full retard. It’s disgusting how people so easily regard houses as financial assets instead of proper homes that serve as an anchor for your life.

They say hard work pays off, but clearly having rich parents is the way to go.

Dammit. No one said life has to be fair, but just once in a while it’d be nice.

Sorry man, another thing to consider is a remote shop space garage. This is what is has come down to for me with my current house and school for kids.

Yeah. Just not a good stretch. Plumber rips me off, drywall guy hits my dad’s car, can’t find a damn house, find a damn house but don’t get it, work-related shenanigans... And that’s just what I’ve chosen to share. I got real problems like everyone else, I just keep it as First World as I can on Oppo. I keep the thick shit offline. But in summation: NO.

Hang in there. For what it’s worth, I’ll buy you a beer any time if you need one. You don’t have to tell me shit and I probably wouldn’t be any help if you did, but I’ll still buy the beer.

I have to move in June and I don’t think I can deal with all this house buying BS. I know it doesn’t make sense financially, but I’m seriously just considering renting for a very long time.

It used to be that was the best way, but rich parents are all turning into ‘I’m not giving my kid anything. My dog on the other hand properly knows how to lick my feet.’ - I mean look at Anderson Cooper, travesty.

There was an all-cash offer on the place I bought, but apparently they were scared off by the nut-job neighbor. Yay! ... oh, wait.

I’m tellin ya, just stay put, spruce up the old homestead, enjoy life - you own the house, not the other way around. Don’t let the con industry control you.
I heard something yesterday along the lines that more than half of Puget Sound area sales go for above listing price.

While I’m not sure how it generally works out where you are, in Chicago, the appraisals quite often come in at the exact dollar amount of the agreed upon purchase price. Strange how that works out, isn’t it?!?

It usually is, but this house was never going to appraise for what we or even they offered. It was a bigly big offer.

We lost out on 4 houses before we got this one. We also went through 2 real estate agents, stuck with the 3rd. Multitudes of reasons. We snagged this one out from everyone by having my parents remortgage their house to get cash and putting in a lower but cash price. My mom was initially concerned but the 10 year loan has 3 left now.
